About Jackie

With over 25 years working in the helping and education professions, I feel privileged that people trust me to help them make sense of their lives and embrace new possibilities.

In order to better understand how we can heal from old wounds and painful experiences, I have undertaken training related to depression, anxiety, trauma, and grief.  These enable me to draw on a range of therapeutic approaches and techniques to support you with whatever is hurting or whatever is not working in your life.

I continue to engage in professional development and reflective practice to ensure my work is both clinically sound and heart based, and I bring personal understanding to my work, informed from my own experience of being a counselling client. I have  also previously taught counselling students for over a decade.

People I have supported in counselling describe me as warm, caring, thorough, with a good sense of humour.

My approach

I am fundamentally person centred and trust in each person’s wisdom and orientation towards growth and wellbeing.  I walk alongside, listen deeply and with compassion, in order to understand your experience.

I draw on different modalities and frameworks including:

  • Acceptance commitment therapy

  • Polyvagal theory

  • Compassion focused therapy

  • Person centred therapy

  • Trauma-sensitive practices

I am committed to co-creating a space where you can be seen, heard and valued, and healing and growth can happen.

How I Work

  • Person centred and neuro- affirming

A strength based, non-pathologizing space with flexibility with session structure, breaks and communication preferences.

  • Polyvagal informed

Understanding how the nervous system can shape stress responses, and inform ways to strengthen safety, connection and ease.

  • Trauma sensitive practice

You will be supported to feel safe, heard and in control of your healing process.

I believe in meeting people with care, curiosity, and compassion. If you're ready to explore what’s possible, I’m here to help.
